This image by Szymon Brodziak is a part of InPosnania project in 2016, created to celebrate the grand opening of Posnania Centre. Szymon’s idea was to juxtapose the monumental and very raw construction site with delicate, yet dynamic Poznan ballet dancers.
Monumental scenes – and a fully local project, crew, models – ballet dancers. A huge structure under construction, a project that is demanding in all respects. Everyone, including the ballet dancers, was trained in Occupational Safety and Health before entering the construction site, which was the photo shoot. Helmets, overalls, wellies and discipline were obligatory. Everyone was surrounded by gigatons of concrete, cranes, scaffolding, machinery and cold, as well as alpine safety net. The fragile, sophisticated beauty of ballerinas in contrast to massive structures, finding the right proportions in these compositions took an extra day of rehearsals.
